Flax seed oil is the most potent known source of alpha-linolenic acid, an
essential omega-3 fatty acid. It is extracted from organically grown flax seeds
using a special cold-pressing process, which minimizes the damaging effects of
light, oxygen and heat. Flax seed oil is also rich in the omega-6 essential
fatty acid, linoleic acid, as well as the omega-9 essential fatty acid, oleic
acid. With a total EFA content greater than 70%, and a total unsaturation of
greater than 90%, this is a cost-effective source of omega-3, omega-6, and
omega-9 fatty acids. Essential fatty acids are involved in prostaglandin
synthesis, hormone production, immune response, fat metabolism, and cell
membrane integrity and fluidity.*
